Contents
The Rules and Regulations for the Classification of Offshore Units cover units engaged in offshore operations, including drilling, oil production and storage, accommodation and other support functions, which generally operate within a flag state's territorial waters. They exclude ship types defined in the Rules for Ships.
These Rules also cover Ship units, which are defined as mono-hull surface-type units engaged in production and/or oil/gas storage/offloading while permanently moored at offshore locations with a ship or barge hull form. Such units may be self-propelled or be built without primary propelling machinery.
